Common Abrasive Disc Types

1. Fibre Discs

Strong fiber backing; used mainly for aggressive grinding; suitable for weld blending, stock removal, and surface preparation.

2. Flap Discs

Multiple abrasive cloth flaps mounted around a backing plate. Combine material removal and finishing and generally provide smoother grinding than conventional grinding wheels. Common in metal fabrication.

3. Hook-and-Loop Sanding Discs

Attach to a compatible backing pad, are quick to change, and are widely used for automotive and woodworking sanding.
